Course Objectives

Welch Allyn’s one-and-a-half-day CSM (CSM 7000) monitor course covers complete repair, maintenance and calibration of the CSM. The course includes both lecture and hands-on service training. You will learn essential product configuration, theory of operation, assembly and test details. 

Content includes but is not limited to:      

  • Parameter explanation and daily use
  • Theory of operation
  • Connectivity
  • Modular and remote Troubleshooting
  • Product disassembly / reassembly techniques
  • Parts replacement procedures
  • Functional verification and calibration procedures
  • Firmware updates and upgrades
  • Welch Allyn Service Tool (WAST) (see bottom of this page for more information about WAST)
  • Reporting Complaints and Service Data to Welch Allyn
  • New Product Warranty, Part numbers & tools

Class materials provided include the presentation used during the course, Service Manual and Gold Level Service Tool License (required for calibration)

Course Prerequisites

Attendees should have working knowledge of microprocessor-based medical electronics servicing and analog and digital electronics theory.

Notes

  • Certain repair activities are not supported – please refer to the CSM Service Manual, Purpose and Scope section in the Overview chapter for further details.
  • Refer to the Disassembly and Repair chapter for the required tools and equipment needed to perform disassembly and reassembly procedures.
  • The chapter Field Replaceable Units lists all available parts
  • The document Connex Spot Monitor, Service and Maintenance Toolset lists the equipment required to perform a functional verification and calibration procedure.

    Course Materials

    All service manuals, recommended spare parts lists, and student guides are provided. Testing includes problem diagnosis and/or a written exam.

    Certificate

    Upon completion of the class, each attendee will receive a certificate of completion indicating the attendee is trained to repair and maintain Hillrom™ Beds, Welch Allyn® and Mortara® Cardiology Products, Surgical Products, or Liko® Lifts. In order to receive the certificate, the attendee must be present for the duration of the class.

    NOTE: Certificates will have a 2-year validity period as long as the attendee is employed by the contracting facility. Refresher training may be required after that time.

    Training Location:

    Hillrom’s training facility in Ashby De La Zouch, Leicestershire, is centrally located between Birmingham, Nottingham and Leicester Located on Junction 13 of the M42. Students may fly into either airport at East Midlands or Birmingham. Obtaining hire car or a taxi at your own expense. (Note: Expect 45 - 60 mins of driving time depending on airport selected.)
